BIOGRAPHY
Yuri Kuper is a Russian artist, sculptor, graphic and set designer. Having spent most of his adult life in the Soviet Union, Kuper's work explores themes of time, memory, and silence. A champion of mixed-media work, Kuper is a self-proclaimed “professional player with surfaces," often incorporating real-life objects, such as a spoon or a paint brush, into his works. In this regard, Jasper John's influence on Kuper is palpable.
Yuri Kuper’s work is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Staaliche Museen Preusshicher Kulturbesitz, Berlin, and The Achenbach Foundation at the Palace of the Legion of Honor, San Francisco, among others. In 2008, his paintings were featured at the Bouquinerie de l'Institut, Paris at the MWFAF 2008.
